Some bears can be.....
Students in LTO and LTH recently heard the story Bertie and the Bear by Pamela Allen. We then researched all the different kinds of bears. Some bears can be..... We loved the story so much that we made our very own masks!
Have you ever been a little confused about all the sections we have in the library? What is Red Dot? What does PRC stand for? Some other sections in the library:
Still not sure what you're look for?
You can ask our lovely Library Monitors or Ms Porter. We are always here to help! Happy Reading! Ever wanted a book that always seems to be out on loan every week?
Well stress no more! Our Library website now has a tab for reservations. Click on the tab and fill in your details, with the name of the book. If you know the author that always helps. An email is then sent directly to Ms Porter letting her know what book to reserve for you! Easy! Will you find a golden ticket? This week students have been all a buzz about the latest news in the Library. Ms Porter has hidden golden tickets in different books around the shelves. But not just any books. Golden tickets will be placed inside books that have not been loaned in quite awhile. We all know those books that sit on the shelf for months (sometimes years) waiting for the right boy or girl to take home and enjoy!
So this year don't judge a book by it's cover! And remember.....if you find a golden ticket....ssshhhhh.....it's a secret! Because the first rule of the golden ticket is, there is no such thing as a golden ticket! A big thank you to those that recently submitted applications for the Library/Shadow Monitor positions. We had many students interested this year, and the decision was a hard one.
Library Monitors for 2015: Ali E Georgia F Soursdey P Maya D Shadow Monitors for 2015: Yashini R Kalil H Dakota B They will be wearing a lanyard while on duty in the Library. Feel free to ask them for assistance during open times. If they are in your class, you may see them behind the counter scanning books from time to time. Library Monitors and Shadow Monitors are also great people to ask when trying to locate a book during borrowing time. Congratulations to this years students. I look forward to working with you. With the release of the next book in Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton's Story Treehouse series, some our students had a go designing their own multi level treehouse.Designed by Kyle in LTW
We have just added two exciting new titles to our collection for all those Frozen fans.
It's Friday! Time for a laugh. Check out some of these funny Library clips. And here is one to inspire us all....... This term students from Year 2 to 6 will be learning about genre. Check out this helpful video which introduces some of the genre elements. Issue 7 has arrived and jam packed full of great titles. Check out some the great bargins this month! ExtraArrowPlus some great competitions!!!!With over 15 copies of The School for Good and Evil purchased and ordered during this years Book Fair, it's no wonder that the series is already on The New York best sellers list, and in talks for a movie.
Another favourite which sold out on the second day of the fair was The Impossible Quest. A new series by Australian author Kate Forsyth. Today we received a special package containing many copies of both The School for Good and Evil and The Impossible Quest. It was another successful year for our Book Fair, with a special visit from well known story book character Geronimo Stilton. Our 'Connect to Reading' guessing competition saw 18 students win a voucher to spend at the Book Fair. This year we managed to raise over $200 in donations, which has gone towards donating over 80 new books to our Library. We thank all our families for making a contribution, and know that our students will enjoy reading these resources for many years to come.

This year I had the pleasure of meeting author Aaron Blabey. I was able to hear him read one of my favourite picture books this year- PIG the PUG. I couldn't wait to get a copy back to school to share with everyone. A very funny book. Here is an illustration which was done by Aaron in only a few minutes! You can borrow a copy of Pig the Pug from the library soon. Better yet...why not buy your own copy at the Book Fair!! |

Fans of the book My Life and other stuff I made up are going to be racing to the shelves to get their hands on Tristan Bancks next book My Life and other stuff that went wrong!
Tristan Banks tells the story of Tom Weekly, and some of the strange events that might have happened in his life.
Tristan explains book two on his website:
My Life & Other Stuff That Went Wrong is my second book of weird, funny, gross, somewhat-true short stories. It's a follow-up to My Life & Other Stuff I Made Up, which has a nice new jacket, too .
I tried to make a 2-minute video about the book with a bunch of rotten kids. It was kind of a disaster...
